this year, after the exhibition of all paintings entered at the Cleethorpes Discovery Centre 24th - 30th May 2010 the Gala Presentation evening will be at Grimsby Town Hall on the 23rd of June

presentation evening, and until public viewing at the Discovery Centre is over.

The Rotary Club of Grimsby Havelok event to showcase the talents of local young artists, in Partnership with North East Lincs Music and Performing Arts Services. The whole 2008/9 event was sponsored by the Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher Education, to whom the Club are very grateful.
The main aim of the competition and exhibition is to promote local talent, increase aspiration, give young painters a higher profile and encourage all young people with art endeavour.
From 11th of May 2009 was a seven day exhibition of school pupils paintings, at the Discovery Centre Cleethorpes, in 2010 these dates are 24th to 30th May. LINK
There are five entry categories.
A memento trophy and certificate is awarded to the winner and runner up of each category (Key Stages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) Also the winner of each category's school has a shield awarded. There is also a 'Special Endeavour' award in each category, as well as Judges merit awards.
The Painter judged as 'Young Painter of the Year' received a Cup, which along with the school Shields annual award for each keystage, is displayed at the winners' schools until the following year. All pupils having a painting showing in the Exhibition receive a certificate.
There is no restriction in subject as we wish to fit in with the curriculum as much as possible and we love to see a wide variation in paintings.
