           Chartered in 1999

The Rotary Club of Grimsby Havelok received its Charter in February 1999. This is the first mixed club in North East Lincolnshire being surrounded by its mother club, Grimsby St James and also Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham.

The Club takes it's name from the famous legend of Grim, the founder of Grimsby, and his adopted son Havelok who became King of Denmark. The legend is explained on wikipedia on line encyclopedia - here

The 5 local clubs in our area are part of the much larger District 1270.
District 1270 is one of 29 Rotary Districts in Great Britain and Ireland.  There are 49 clubs in the District covering parts of the counties of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

The District boundary stretches from Hornsea on the East Yorkshire coast (our northern-most club) down the east coast via Hull (the District’s major port) to Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast (our southern-most club); then north-west from Skegness via Lincoln (our largest Rotary Club) to Sheffield (our biggest city) and then north-east via Selby (our smallest Rotary Club) back to Hornsea.

Please browse through our pages for other information about our club and the Rotary organisation. You will also see details of forthcoming events and information - or perhaps you would like contact details for further information.
