Math’s Books on their way to schools in India. Thanks to a Grimsby businessman and the Math’s Department of St Clements’s College.

When John Swain, Faculty Leader at St Clements’s College in Skegness decided to tidy his stock cupboard he came across a quantity of old math’s books which were no longer needed or used by the students. Being the sort of man who hates to throw out anything he asked Chris Suich if she knew of anyone who might like them. After close inspection both teachers realized that they were in quite good condition and it would be much better to recycle these books by sending them to a school abroad, where buying books was just too expensive. The problem was how we could afford to send a large quantity of books abroad to somewhere like India or Africa.

It was at the Games Night fundraising event a few weeks later when Chris was speaking to fellow Rotarian Mike Dillon that the answer became clearer. He introduced her to a local businessman who was quietly enjoying the evening. During the conversation Mike and Chris explained that we needed a sponsor for several boxes of text-books to go to several schools in India. Little did Chris know she was looking at an angel (no not Mick!) and he offered to make it happen and pay for the transportation of the books.
