The St Clement's College Drama Club decided to donate their Talent Show takings from the Thursday 4th February's performance to the Shelter Box appeal for Haiti.
Rotarian and Chair of International for Rotary Club of Havelok in Grimsby and teacher at the college Chris Suich had organised the collection of loose change for a week from the whole school during assemblies. This had resulted in £150.00 being raised.
However the students had been watching the regular updates on the
BBC.co.uk news and had seen the Shelter Boxes in action and they wanted to do more fundraising to try to reach a target figure of £490.00 which would buy a complete shelter box for 10 people to live in.
The Talent Show was a great success and credit must be given to all the students, teachers and the Drama department for putting on a wonderful show. The amount raised was over £500.00.
This college has a long and successful history of supporting the charities of Rotary International and are keen to help when it comes to International disasters like the Tsunami of some years ago and now the Haiti Earthquake. They have also supported the Wheelchair Foundation and only last week (January 19th) two year 7 classes held an assembly called 'Making a difference' which was about raising awareness of the Wheelchair Foundation and the work of Ken Behring it's founder.
A big thankyou to all the students and staff of the St Clement's College, in Skegness who have proved they can all make a difference to other people's lives when disaster strikes.
